supply infrastructure improvements in the cities of Robertsport, Sanniquellie, and Voinjama. The improved water systems are expected to provide substantial public health and economic development benefits in the three target cities.
Qualifications
–Minimum of 10 years directly relevant water engineering experience in an equivalent position.
–Strong knowledge of and prior experience on municipal water supply engineering projects, including planning, detailed design, construction, and operations. Must be able to independently carry out detailed engineering design, lead a team of engineers, and be familiar with Computer Aided Design software (e.g. AutoCAD).
–University Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering, preferably with water supply engineering emphasis.
Responsibilities
Lead the project’s Engineering Design Team to plan, design, and support construction, operation and maintenance of piped municipal water supply infrastructure (treatment, storage, and distribution). Build capacity of junior engineering staff and local institutions in these areas. Other tasks as assigned by supervisor. The full-time Water Supply Engineer (WSE) will help direct the day-to-day activities of the Engineering Design Team and be complemented by and work closely with additional long-term staff with skills in engineering, institutional strengthening and reform, monitoring and evaluation, environmental compliance, communications and outreach, and gender and facilitation. The WSE’s duties include but are not limited to:
• Lead the engineering design process including assurance of meeting schedules and compliance with Tetra Tech and local engineering design standards and norms.
• Support the tendering process and provide technical support and leadership throughout construction and initial operation.
• Correspond with Tetra Tech Home Office engineering support staff as required for technical support and to ensure compliance with Tetra Tech quality standards.
• Manage Engineering Design Team on a day-to-day basis, and mentor and train junior staff.
• Contribute to program reports as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
