WORK HOURS: Full-time; 40 hours/week

The U.S. Embassy is seeking an individual for the position of Custodian

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:
Working alone, or a member of a custodian crew, performs a range of custodial duties. Cleans restrooms, sweeps, mops, scrubs and wax floors; cleaning, disinfecting, and deodorizing lavatories, commodes and other restroom fixtures; polishes and cleans mirrors and water fountains; dusts woodwork; replaces soap, deodorizers, towels and toiletries.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Cleans floors of offices, corridors and other assigned areas, shredding machines and stairways by sweeping, mopping, waxing and polishing. Dusts, waxes and polishes office furniture and empties waste baskets. Sweeps outside steps and walks immediately adjacent to buildings.
• Responsible for reporting any maintenance problem through the work order system.
• Responsible for the collection and distribution of drinking water to the various offices and designated areas. Performs service and cleaning of water coolers located in assigned areas. Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Completion of elementary school is required.
2. Six months of custodial experience is required.
3. Level III Good working knowledge of English is required.
4. Must have basic knowledge of the use of cleaning equipment.
5. Must have the ability to follow instructions labeled on cleaning equipment, solutions and be able to apply them effectively.

SELECTION PROCESS:
When fully qualified, US Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and US Veterans are given preference. Therefore, it is essential that the candidate specifically address the required qualifications above in the application.

ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:
1. Management will consider nepotism/conflict of interest, budget, and residency status in determining successful candidacy.
2. Current employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply.
3. Current Ordinarily Resident employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report are not eligible to apply.
4. Currently employed US Citizen EFMs who hold a Family Member Appointment (FMA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment.
5. Currently employed NORs hired under a Personal Services Agreement (PSA) are ineligible to apply for advertised positions within the first 90 calendar days of their employment unless currently hired into a position with a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
