PURPOSE OF
POSITION:
IT Managers are responsible for managing small to large teams for the planning,
and implementation of IT services that support the achievement of organization
goals. They manage one or more IT processes within one functional area and
provide services to one or more field office locations.

The Network
Manager’s role is to plan, direct, and coordinate the design, installation, and
connectivity of computer and network systems to ensure the stable operation of
the organization’s IT assets. This includes developing, configuring,
maintaining, supporting, and optimising all new and existing network hardware,
software, and communication links. The Network Manager will also schedule and
direct the activities of a team of network specialists to resolve end user hardware
and software problems in a timely and accurate fashion.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

IT Technology Development:
- Develops and implements technologies to
improve the performance of a business efficiency and effectiveness. - Establish best practices and policies for
installing, configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting end user
workstation hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
Architecture:
- Provides input to technology planning within
a functional area. - Implements solutions consistent within
current context of overall architecture. - Develop and deploy methodologies for testing
network performance and providing network performance statistics and
reports.
Change Management:
- Embraces and executes change through
frequent, communication to staff and clients about the change and the
impact of the change (individual and business). - Consistently advocates for the change.
- Coaches staff through the change.
- Identifies and removes obstacles to change.
Resource Management:
- Meets regularly with team to gather work
statuses. - Discusses work progress and obstacles.
- Provides advice, guidance, encouragement and
constructive feedback. - Ensures work, information, ideas, and
technology flow freely across teams. - Establishes measurable individual and team
objectives that are aligned with business and organizational goals. - Documents and presents performance
assessments. - Recognises and rewards associates
commensurate with performance. - Implements organizational practices for
staffing, EEO, diversity, performance management, development, reward and
recognition, and retention. - Develop, implement, and maintain policies,
procedures, and associated training plans for network resource
administration and appropriate use.
Business & IT Strategy:
- Implements the tactical components of the IT
strategy. - Works with business partners to understand
business needs.
Governance:
- Provides input into demand management process
and executes on plan.
Process Improvements:
- Implements defined process improvements.
Finance:
- Participates in the development of IT
budgets. - Tracks and takes appropriate steps to stay
within budget. - Provides high-quality services at optimal
cost to customers. - Measures service performance and implements
improvements.
Service Level Agreements (SLAs):
- Participates and provides input to the SLA
development process. - Ensures internal SLAs are met.
Vendor Management:
- Provides advice and counsel to the vendor
relationship decision-making and contract development processes. - Reviews service provider performance.
- Identifies and confirms performance problems
and notifies contract managers.
Workforce Planning:
- Identifies the roles, skills and knowledge
required to achieve goals. - Ensures staff has the resources and skills
needed to support all work initiatives within the assigned function or
Centre of Competency (COC). - Participates in IT workforce deployment
activities.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
REQUIRED:
Minimum Education, Training and Experience Requirements to Qualify for
the Position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science,
Information Systems, or other related field. Or equivalent work
experience. - Requires experience in supervising and
building relationships with people at a variety of levels. - Experience in global project management,
technology implementation and support.
Additional work experience required as a minimum qualification for this
position:
- Typically has 7 to 10 years of relevant IT
and business work experience. - Requires demonstrated ability to launch and
deliver global IT projects on time and within budget. - Willingness and ability to travel
domestically and internationally, as necessary. - Development and implementation, with a
supporting business case, for a global Wide Area Network.
