Estimator Job Vacancy in Ireland – Energy Division

Job description:
We have a fantastic opportunity to work with a Semi State organanisation in the Energy division. We are currently welcoming applicants for Estimator / design tech / CAD tech. This would suit candidates qualified in mechanical/civil or building services industry that have strong communication skills with some experience in costing or estimating. This is initially a 4-6 month contract with a view to extension or permanency.

Estimator
Brief summary of Duties:
• Knowledge of GIS and the ability to produce C.A.D. drawings for Development projects
• Maintain, upgrade and approve as laid drawings and enter all details into the live system.
• Direct communication with Design Engineers with regards to drawing amendments
• Site Surveying and investigation – Meeting with various Building Contractors and relevant stake-holders and representing the company
• Liaise with other internal Departments
• Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

More detailed Job Description:
• To design, survey, process through the Integrated Utility System, estimate, appraise and issue to Construction projects relating to new development activities covering mains extensions, servicing new and existing industrial estates and commercial premises, residential developments and network extensions as required . This work will involve meeting future customers, consultants etc and representing the company.
• Prepare and circulate periodic project status reports as required.
• Research, take account of future land development and C.E.R. Connection Policy requirements when designing mains extensions and networks.
• Prepare mapping relating to each project and apply to Local Authorities for road opening licences/wayleaves. Liaise with Local Authority engineers and officials.
• Use of a variety of computer software including Networks Design software, IUS (integrated utility system) (project estimating etc), Database, Spreadsheet, Word Processing, AutoCAD Lt. and other software as introduced by the company from time to time.
• Liaise with other internal Sections – Sales, Renewals, Construction Engineers and Foremen etc.
• Other duties may be assigned from time to time

To be considered for this position, you will have;
• A Certificate in Engineering from an approved Regional Technical College / Institute of Technology or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Utility Construction/Fitting Procedures and estimation software packages is an advantage.
• Previous experience in the use of estimation and Period Contract Schedule Techniques .
