The Trust is hoping to achieve Foundation Trust status in early 2012. NHS Foundation Trusts are a key part of the reform programme in the NHS. They are autonomous organisations with greater freedom to decide how to improve their services and can retain any surpluses they generate, or borrow money to support these investments. These freedoms mean NHS Foundation Trusts can better shape their healthcare services around local needs and priorities.
This is an exciting time for the Trust where strong leadership will shape and develop services for our communities. We are seeking an outstanding individual with a significant clinical leadership background to serve as an Associate Non Executive Director. Someone whom will bring challenge as well as support and in particular will offer clinical stretch to the team.
The successful candidate will be appointed by the Trust as an Associate Non-executive Director for up to 12 months. Thereafter a substantive Non Executive Director will be appointed by the new Foundation Trust. Although an Associate does not have voting rights, he/she will be asked to make a full contribution to the Board’s debates and discussions.
