Residential Social Care worker required for a young person’s Unit in Co. Wexford with our client; Daffodil Care Services. The role will involve working with adolescents from 16-18 years approx.
These roles are permanent positions.
We are seeking to recruit a number of Social Care Worker for a new unit based in Co. Wexford. This unit will focus on providing independent living, outreach and education services to older adolescents (16-18) years, due to move on from high support care and into the community.

Job Responsibilities:
Duties and responsibilities of the Social Care Workers post include:
• To work in co-operation with the Unit Manager, to create and maintain a warm, accepting and secure environment for the young people in our care.
• To work under the guidance and direction of the Unit Manager, to ensure that the highest possible standards of child care are maintained at all times within the unit.
• The Social Care Worker will be familiar with all policies, relevant legislation, and National Guidelines that are in use within Daffodil Care.
• Role modelling a child centred approach to both staff and young people.
• To undertake training identified for professional development and to participate fully in regular supervision and team meetings.
• To respect the children’s religious, cultural or ethnic background and to encourage them to exercise practices appropriate to that background, where such practices are not detrimental to their welfare.
• To encourage the young person to speak out about any aspect of their care, or past life that they are unhappy about and to assure them that their complaints will be taken seriously and responded to appropriately.
• To liaise closely with schools to ensure that difficulties are reported early and can be addressed appropriately through the Placement Plan & to assist and encourage each young person in all aspects of their school life.
• To ensure that each child receives adequate medical, psychological, dental, ophthalmic or other specialist services as required.
• To work designated shifts according to the roster, including overnights, weekends and public holidays as required.
Job Requirements:
• 2 years experience in a similar role is essential
