Reporting to: Head of Administration
Hours: Ideally Monday – Friday 09:00 until 17:30 (37.5hrs per week)
Salary: The position is a voluntary, unpaid position, with a stipend available to cover local travel expenses and lunches. After three months, if successful, there is the option to move onto the UK minimum wage for a further 3 months.

Camfed is a fast-paced and award-winning charitable organisation, based in Cambridge. It is dedicated to fighting poverty and HIV/AIDS in rural Africa by educating girls and encouraging women to become leaders of change. Since 1993, more than 1,451,600 children in impoverished areas of Zimbabwe, Zambia, Tanzania, Ghana and Malawi have benefited from our innovative educational programmes. Camfed is seeking an Intern to support fundraising for its programmes in Africa.
Key Duties & Responsibilities:
The fundraising intern will undertake a range of activities that are integral to Camfed’s work, from day-to-day administration of a busy fundraising office to supporting event coordination, donor communication and community fundraising initiatives.
The intern’s role is vital to supporting the day-to-day activities of the Camfed Individual Giving Team. As Camfed’s newest intern you would:
• Working with the Individual Giving Team to research and profile potential major donors.
• Assist with the planning and support of fundraising events.
• Working with the Individual Giving Team to ensure our donor database is accurate and up-to-date.
• Support the Individual Giving Team with mailings to donors.
• Work with the Individual Giving Team to write proposals and reports to major donors.
• Support the individual Giving Team with ongoing donor communications (e.g. bespoke thank you letters, etc).
• Provide support as required for other priorities across Camfed’s Individual Giving Team or, if needed, to support other teams.
Knowledge, Experience & Skills Required:
Essential:
• Degree level or equivalent
• A self starter who is willing to pitch in
• Excellent communication skills – including strong writing skills
• Exceptional interpersonal skills – including an excellent telephone manner
• Initiative and enthusiasm
• Ability to quickly become a key member of a busy and highly motivated team
• Flexible and adaptable
• Strong attention to detail
• Highly organised
• Ability to work to deadlines
• Up to date IT experience, particularly Excel
• Eligible to work in the UK
Desirable:
• Previous fundraising experience
• Interest in international development
