PhD. Innovation Engineer – Software Developer Scholarship at University of Wales, UK

The University of Wales is inviting applications for outstanding graduates to undertake a Prince of Wales
Innovation Scholarship (POWIS). POWIS is an initiative of the University of Wales Global Academy and is part funded by the private sector.

The successful candidate will undertake a 3 year research project based with a fast growing research and development based company, with international partners, located in West Wales. The scholar would join a small but dynamic innovation team working on a variety of cutting edge technologies. The doctoral research topic is to be developed in association with the successful candidate from a number of options relating to cyber security and/or next generation technologies. The scholar would be working either from the Swansea or Pembrokeshire office depending on preference.

Candidates for this position should have a computer science background backed with excellent academic credentials in a relevant discipline – a First class bachelor’s degree or a higher degree (e.g. Masters). Scholars will differentiate themselves by having gained experience within a software developing environment. Due to the nature of the project, the scholar should have experience in object orientated programming preferably C++. The programme will use agile methodologies.

The Prince of Wales Innovation Scholarship programme is open to all students, whether from the UK, EU or worldwide. Scholarships* cover all tuition fees, reasonable travel costs to and from country, an annual tax-free stipend of £20,000 (GBP) plus a one off research grant of £5,000.
