The Kenya Sugar Research Foundation (KESREF) is a Semi Autonomous Government Agency(SAGA) in the Ministry of Agriculture, with its headquarters at Kibos near Kisumu.
KESREF is mandated to develop and disseminate appropriate technologies for enhanced productivity, value addition and competitiveness of the Kenyan sugar sub-sector.
KESREF wishes to recruit a qualified and experienced individual to the following vacant position:
Extension Scientist

– Ksh 63790×3190 – 66980×3340 – 70320×3520 – 73840×3690 – 77530×3880-81410 p.m.
The Extension Scientist reports to the Assistant Director Technology Transfer. The successful candidate may be deployed in any of our four stations of Kibos, Opapo, Mumias, or Mtwapa.
Duties Include
• Plan and conduct farmer training activities
• Disseminate research results through field days, Ministry of Agriculture meetings, seminars, shows and open days
• Liaise closely with specific extension staff from sugar milling factories and farmers’ organization to reach farmers
• Participate in multi-disciplinary research teams
• Supervision of staff
• Individual budget, work plans and reports
Level of Education and Experience:
• MSc degree from a recognized university.
• Evidence of output and extension experience of at least 5 years.
• ICT competency
