1. Director, Learning Technologies
One Position
This position reports to the Executive Director/CEO of KENET and will be
responsible for promoting and piloting the use of modern learning technologies
to transform higher education in KENET member institutions.
This will be achieved through carefully designed professional development
programs for senior university leadership, faculty and researchers.
In addition, the position will design and coordinate innovative and
demonstration teaching and learning with technology projects in collaboration
with member institutions.
This position will suitable for candidates who are already faculty members in
one of the KENET member universities and who are willing to provide academic
leadership in the use of learning technologies to transform and enhance the
quality of university education in Kenya.
Suitable candidates will be expected to have the following qualifications and
experience:
- A PhD in ICT
(ICT includes electrical engineering, computer science, information
systems) or in educational technology from a recognized university. - Applicants who
are about to complete relevant PhD studies will be considered - At least five
years’ experience as a teaching faculty member in a recognized university,
preferably in Africa - Experience in
modern teaching and curriculum development methods and student assessment. - Demonstrated
excellent teaching skills at university level (evidence based on teaching
portfolio or teaching awards). - Experience in
the use of teaching portfolio or equivalent tool for assessment and
documenting teaching experience at university level - Experience in
developing e-learning materials and other online materials. - Experience in
academic leadership and working with senior leadership of universities - Ability to
attract grants from industry and foundations will be mandatory Proficiency
in computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and other
collaborative tools) - Demonstrated
high ethical and moral standards
Shared Services Manager
One Position
This position reports to the Head of Infrastructure and will provide existing
and new members of KENET with a single point of contact on al! shared services
offered by KENET.
The suitable candidate will be responsible for promoting and developing
innovative shared services in collaboration with member institutions and
managing the relationship between KENET and member institutions.
Suitable candidates will be expected to have the following qualifications
and experience;
- An undergraduate
degree in engineering, computer science, or information systems from a
recognized university with advanced knowledge of information systems and
marketing acquired through experience or a higher degree in information
systems or business administration. - At least one
year experience as a network or system administrator with a large
organization, ISP or telecom operator. - At least three
years relevant experience as an account manager or as a sales and
marketing professional or IT manager in large a organization - Demonstrated
excellent critical thinking and analytical skills - Excellent oral
and written communication skills in English language - Ability to work
with limited supervision - Proficiency in
computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and other
collaborative tools) - Demonstrated
high ethical and moral standards
Assistant Web and Mobile Applications Developer
One Position
This position reports to the Network Operations Manager and will be responsible
for the requirement analysis, conceptive design, and formulation of
architecture, implementation, system integration, testing, documentation and
deployment of web and mobile applications/ systems at KENET.
This is an entry level /trainee position for recent information systems or
computer science graduates.
Suitable candidates will be expected to have the following qualifications
and experience:
- B.S. Computer
Science, Information systems or equivalent with specialization in
applications developments - Knowledge in
developing embedded applications for a wide range of mobile platforms
(e.g. Android, iOS, LINUX, Windows Mobile/.NET Compact Framework, Meego,
Blackberry). - Web application
development experience (eg. Ajax, PHP, JavaScript, Ruby on Rail, JSP,
Python). - Familiarity or
experience with databases (e.g. MySQL, Oracle, PostgresSQL) - At least six
months relevant experience obtained through employment or internship as a
web and/or mobile application developer. - Excellent oral
and written technical communication skills in English language - Demonstrated
high moral and ethical standards
Communications Officer
One Position
This position reports to the Executive Director/CEO of KENET and the focal point
within the KENET responsible for internal and external communication with stake
holders and managing membership and donor relations as necessary.
The candidate will also establish/maintain an up-to-date
documentation/information centre for publications, press releases and
clippings, as well as photographic and audio-visual materials.
Suitable candidates will be expected to have the following qualifications
and experience:
- An undergraduate
degree in information systems, business IT, Marketing communications,
communications or journalism - At least two
years’ experience in corporate communications or marketing or public
relations - Proficiency in
computer applications (word processing, spreadsheets, e-mail and other
collaborative tools) - Ability to
research, analyse, evaluate and synthesize information. - Ability to work
independently with limited supervision - Professional
qualifications would be an added advantage - Demonstrated
high-ethical and moral standards - Demonstrated
excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Kiswahili
languages
Accountant
One Position
This position reports to the Management Accountant and is responsible for
providing management support in financial analysis, treasury management,
budgeting and budgetary control.
The position will provide leadership in the budgeting process and analysis of
the business performance.
Suitable candidates will be expected to have the following qualifications
and experience:
- A business,
commerce or accounting degree or equivalent from a recognized university - At least two
years’ experience in a busy accounting office - Must be a CPA
(K); certification as CPS (K) would be an added advantage - Proficiency in
all basic office computer applications, e-mail and Internet. - Ability to work
independently with limited supervision - Demonstrated
high moral and ethical standards - Excellent oral
and written communication skills in English language
of the above positions shall be on contract terms of three (3) years which
shall be renewable based on performance an attractive remuneration package
