Job
Description
  • The
    Head of Procurement will play an integral role in managing and controlling
    multiple shared services organizations’ direct spend by utilizing
    strategic sourcing, expert contract negotiation and advanced supplier
    management methods in alignment with business objectives.
Responsibilities
  • Lead
    selection and management of key suppliers through appropriate evaluation,
    selection, and governance to ensure service delivery & quality,
    relevance, and commercial value
  • Negotiate
    and finalize supplier contracts, including Service Level Agreements
  • Maintain
    constant communications with business customers to ensure customers agree
    to Service Level Agreements and commitments are met
  • Maintain
    strong external relationships to establish benchmarks and networks to
    ensure the business needs are met
  • Select
    and partner with key suppliers to ensure cost-effective, high quality
    delivery of products and services
  • Align
    with internal customers e.g. Finance and Warehouse to understand budgetary
    targets by building to develop an agreed method of measuring and defining
    savings, value and other category metrics
  • Manage,
    engage in, and promote continuous cost reduction and quality improvement
    efforts
  • Develop,
    align and implement KPIs in support of managing strategic supplier
    relationships in line with organizational requirements and processes to
    achieve exceptional levels of quality and service while maintaining
    competitive pricing structure
  • Continuously
    monitors external market conditions and understand their potential impacts
    on procurement best practices, supplier pricing and/or service levels
Requirements
  • B.Sc.
    in Supply Chain Management, Logistics or Business
    Administration/Finance/Accounts/Economics
  • A
    minimum of 7 year’s hands-on and strategic experience in procurement,
    assisting in setting procurement strategies, driving cost savings and
    improving terms and conditions.
  • Knowledge
    of sourcing and procurement techniques as well as a dexterity in “reading”
    the market
  • Demonstrated
    understanding of contracts and experience negotiating complex agreements
    with suppliers of critical importance to the business.
  • Membership
    of Chartered Institute of Purchasing & Supply Management of Nigeria,
    Membership of Institute of Purchasing & Supply, UK or any relevant
    professional body will be an added advantage
Skills:
  • Good
    communication and networking skills and able to work effectively as either
    an individual or as part of a team in a matrix environment.
  • Strong
    negotiator able to negotiate on both an intellectual and relationship
    basis.
  • Highly
    motivated towards achieving cost savings and corporate goals (i.e.
    commercially minded).
  • Excellent
    inter-personal skills in order to become accepted in a challenging
    environment and driving change in a positive manner.
  • Excellent
    leadership skills including clearly demonstrated global perspective and
    understanding of factors impacting businesses and their suppliers
  • Must
    be flexible and have strong influencing skills in order to use both a
    facilitative and directive approach to “sell” method to customers and
    negotiate with suppliers.
