Akili Minerals Services Ltd is a recently created consulting and contracting company offering technical services to mineral exploration and mining companies, including geological services, geophysics, geochemistry, and exploration drilling.
The company is rapidly growing and is seeking candidates to fill the position of Junior Geologist / PA to Director.
The successful candidate will report to the Managing Director, and will be involved in:
• Maintaining company’s geological database
• Processing geo-scientific data
• Doing research on mineral-related matters (geology, market, exploration, mining, mineral cadaster)
• Preparing quotations and reports for customers
• Preparing internal reports and briefs
• Sample preparation and management
• Geological field work
• General PA tasks
Candidates will have the following profile:
Personal qualities:
• Proactive and quick learner
• Meticulous and work quality conscious
• Ability to work with large data sets without making errors
• Good written and verbal presentation and reporting skills
• Impeccable written English
• Proficiency in Microsoft office applications and use of Internet
• Experience in GIS and geo-scientific software an added advantage
Experience required: not necessary. 1 to 2 years experience would be an added advantage
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Mine Engineering or Natural Sciences
The position is based in Lavington and may involve occasional travel within Kenya and Africa.
The position is particularly suited to a young geologist willing to rapidly gain experience by being exposed to a wide range of commodities, exploration methods, and companies in a competitive business environment.
