FHI 360 seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Project Director / Chief of Party for its current USAID-funded HIV prevention project focusing on key populations in Ghana. This position will report to FHI 360/Ghana’s Country Director. This position is based in Accra, Ghana
Position Responsibilities:
• Technical and management responsibility for all project personnel.
• Serve as the project’s representative to USAID/Ghana, the Ministry of Health, the National AIDS Control Program, the Ghana AIDS Commission, other donors and institutions, technical agencies and other participating organizations as required.
• Responsible for addressing contract-related issues, including ensuring that FHI 360’s financial controls and systems comply with generally accepted accounting practices that meet USAID standards, and that all activity-procured materials and equipment are safeguarded and prudently and responsibly used.
• Responsible for the successful implementation of the project and for providing general program and technical direction as well as completion of required reports.
• Manage development of and monitor work plans and budgets; ensure appropriate levels of technical assistance in program operations; coordinate partner efforts in program implementation; ensure appropriate program monitoring and reporting.
• Liaise as appropriate with: USAID/Ghana, government counterparts, and local implementing agencies in coordinating their participation in project development and implementation.
Minimum Qualifications:
• BS/BA or its international equivalent in public health or related field;
• MS/MA /MPH and/or PhD, MD preferred;
• Minimum of 8+ years experience in international development programs and staff supervision;
• Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and/or experience sufficient to successfully perform the key responsibilities of the job
• Demonstrated experience managing HIV/AIDS programs and subgranting mechanisms, systematically building the technical and institutional capacity of local partners, and supporting national governments in achieving their health policy agendas.
• Broad understanding of public health in Ghana, especially HIV prevention in most-at-risk-populations (MARP), and of the socioeconomic, institutional and policy context.
• Demonstrated capacity to build and maintain productive working relationships with a wide network of partners and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated knowledge of USAID and PEPFAR procedures relating to program design/implementation, budgeting, monitoring and evaluation.
• Strong written and oral communication skills;
• Fluency in English required.
• Working experience in Ghana preferred.
• Ability to travel internationally and within the region as requested
