African Barrick Gold’s Bulyanhulu mine is looking to employ an experienced Alimak Mining Superintendent to provide leadership, direction and technical expertise to the mining operations personnel to ensure optimum safe production at minimum cost within the statutory and corporate framework.
KEY RESULT AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Lead and direct mining operations personnel to adhere to mining strategies, budgets, plans and safety standards.
• To develop systems to ensure mining personnel utilize fixed and mobile equipment to produce ore to maximize profit for the organization.
• Maintain and monitor systems to enable the swift correction of unfavorable cost and physical variances.
• Implement employee performance management processes to ensure optimum employee performance and take appropriate action to remedy any substandard employee performance or behavior.
• Provide leadership, training and support to ensure that employees and contractors comply with safety standards that exceed industry practice and any applicable legislative requirements.
• Create a working environment, which ensures that employees gain new skills and achieve their full potential by developing and implementing effective training and mentoring programs.
• Continually review every aspect of mining activities to ensure that opportunities to add value and enhance shareholder wealth are identified and implemented.

Education Requirements:
• Mine overseers Certificate of Competency
• Mine managers Certificate of Competency
Experience Requirements:
• 15 years underground experience in the Mining Industry.
• Both technical and operational experience is essential.
• 15 years Alimak mining experience with proven supervisory experience leading an Alimak Section
