Art in Tanzania (AIT) is a self-sustainable Non Government Organization (NGO) registered in Tanzania, Zanzibar, Ethiopia and Finland. Established in Dar es Salaam in 2001, Art in Tanzania currently has volunteer and internship centers in Dar es Salaam, Moshi, the Maasai tribal lands, Karatu, and Zanzibar. Over the
course of a year, AIT receives over 1,000 volunteers and interns, with approximately 100 volunteers/interns in country at one time. The volunteer’s community work focuses on assisting in Educational, Cultural and Medical projects including Nursery, Primary and Secondary Education assistance, Orphan care, Women’s Groups, HIV awareness, Adult English Classes, Music production, Arts & Handicrafts and Magazine publishing.

Art in Tanzania’s Mission:
Advancement of community development through volunteer and intern projects in the fields of education, HIV/AIDS awareness, construction, sports programs and orphan care and the development of media (Mzuka Records and Fiesta Magazine) to promote social awareness.

Job description:
Art in Tanzania is looking for a hard-working Project Coordinator/Team Leader, who will be committed to the management of volunteers and staff as well as the development of community volunteer and tourism programs in the area of Karatu and Maasai Land.

The job:
• Supervising tourists and guiding occasional intern and volunteer programs
• Allocating accommodation and facilitating volunteer/intern/tourist briefing on arrival to Karatu Volunteer House
• Assisting in organizing safaris & day trips, logistics
• Overseeing weekly budgets and financial accounts
• Assisting with organizing fundraising activities in-country
• Preparing and distributing bi-monthly newsletters

• Experience of working with tourists/volunteers especially in an international setting
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Negotiation and liaison skills & high attention to detail
• Management and organization skills
• Takes initiative and has a “can do” attitude
• Time management skills
• Ability to manage local staff
• Approachable for volunteers, resilient and mature, with the ability to work alone and in a team under basic living conditions
• Ability to motivate others
• Fluency in English, Knowledge of Swahili strongly recommended
