The Chief Justice and the Judicial Service Commission. The Judicial Service Commission is an independent government department established in accordance with Article 112(1) of the Constitution of the United Republic of Tanzania, and the Judicial Administration Act No.4 of 2011. One of the main functions of the Commission is the recruitment and appointment of Judicial and non Judicial staff.

Description: Position: Chief Court Administrator
Natures and Scope of The Position
The Chief Court Administrator is the Chief Executive Officer and the Accounting Officer of the Judiciary of Tanzania
He/She will also be responsible for providing leadership and managerial supervision in directing the non- judicial operations and administration of the Judiciary.
Position Relationships
Directly supervises all Court Administrators,’ Director of Administration and Human Resources; the
Chief Accountant; Internal Auditor; the Planning Unit; Procurement Unit, Information Communication Technology (ICT) Unit etc
Coordinates with Court Registrars and all other Judicial staff
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Performs the functions and duties vested in him/her under the terms of the Judicial Administration Act. No.4 of 2011
Oversees and coordinates the implementation of the Judiciary Administration Act and the relevant parts of the mandates of the Judiciary and Judicial Service Commission.
Manages the overall operations and support services of the judiciary
Oversees the formulation development and implementation of policies and programmes to enhance efficiency and excellence of the Judiciary. .
Initiates the preparation and implementation of strategic and work plans of the Judiciary
Prepares the budget and other financial statements of the Judiciary for submission to the relevant Government authorities
Manages the Judiciary fund and oversees fiscal activities of the Judiciary.
Mobilizes financial and other resources for the Judiciary
Manages non judicial employees (recruitment, appointment, discipline, performance evaluation, training etc) in accordance with prevailing laws and regulations governing the Public Service and the Judicial Service Act
Coordinates and maintain a productive relationship with Court Registrars. 4.1.9 Undertakes and plans court technology and information systems
Undertakes any other duties as may be assigned by the Chief Justice or the Judicial Service Commission
Requirements:
Qualifications and Experience
Holder of Masters Degree or equivalent professional qualification in Public Administration; Human
Resources; Finance, Sociology; Economics and Planning; or Management
Work experience of not less than twelve (12) years in the Public Service (administration and finance) in the relevant fields of which at least five (5) years in a Senior Managerial and Directorate position.
Possess proven managerial and leadership capabilities, excellent interpersonal skills, and above all should have high integrity and good character.
Extensive experience in Institutional Buildings and Reforms (eg. Public Sector, Local Government, Parastatal etc.)
Computer literacy is essential.
Remuneration
The successful candidate will be offered a remuneration package commensurate with Government
remuneration schemes and other benefits as may be approved by the President’s Office – Public Service Management from time to time.
