Security Manager Job Vacancy in Tanzania

Manage and be accountable
for the security and safety of Tulawaka Gold Mine employees and contractors
living and working in Tanzania by ensuring that planned and agreed objectives
are met in line with the Security Strategy and that foreseeable threat and risk
is eliminated or controlled. As a member of the Management Team, participate in
leadership of the site to ensure business objectives (production, etc) are
achieved within agreed/approved costs and that Tanzanian laws are upheld at all
times.
KEY RESULT
AREAS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Implement the Global Security Strategy as
    it relates to Tanzania, to maximize the safety and security of all
    employees and contractors living and working at Tulawaka mine site.
  • With regards Security related issues ensure
    the mine operates within the laws of Tanzania.
  • Ensure that all security employees receive
    Voluntary Principles on Security and Human Rights, Use of Force, Sexual
    Harassment and Code of Conduct training and ensure a regime is in place to
    manage compliance.
  • Be the site champion for Voluntary
    Principles on Security and Human Rights and Use of Force.
  • Ensure that all Police Officers deployed
    under the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) are trained in
    the VPSHR and the Use of Force
  • Compile monthly, quarterly and yearly audit
    reports regarding financial compliance according to ABG Corporate
    standards.
  • Ensure the Tulawaka site is compliant with
    ABG policies and procedures.
  • Inculcate a security culture into all mine
    Departments.
  • Manage and be
    accountable for the security of mine product, process and property.
  • Manage strong
    relationships with all Departments but in particular with the Community
    Relations Department.
  • Manage the development and training of the
    National Security staff including mentoring, succession planning and
    senior staff development and training.
  • Ensure that all employees and contractors
    are trained in and are aware of Company security procedures, Company
    security policies and standards and best practice for working safely in
    their specific areas of employment.
  • Ensure that TGM and Corporate safety
    objectives are met and management receives appropriate information to
    achieve those objectives. Foster a culture of safety within the Security
    Department and develop departmental Safety representatives.
  • Represent the Company in meetings with
    government (Community forums/Police / Justice Dept & Corrective
    Services), and other resource companies and stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with public security
    forces and local, district and regional government agencies.
  • Manage contract security.
  • Provide advice to the General Manager
    regarding current security trends within Tanzania and forecast future
    threats through a sound risk assessment process.
  • Ensure the secure transport of TGM product
    between the mine site and external refining agency.
  • As a member of the management team,
    participate in all discussions leading to actions which affect the site
    operations as a whole.
  • Manage change.
  • Implement the results of investigations and
    inquiries.
  • Responsible for optimisation, usage and
    accounting for Department inventory.
  • Develop and manage budgets for operating
    and capital expenditure.
§ Communicate with the Regional Security
Manager (Africa) and the Director of Security to ensure that information is
received and analysed with the aim of protecting the company’s people and
assets in the country of operation.
§ Support the Director of Security in deploying corporate initiatives and strategies
relating to information gathering, analysis and management.
  • Oversee Security
    Project Quality Assurance and timely delivery.
  • Crisis management as
    required.
  • Manage technical
    security systems and security information systems.
PROFESSIONAL AND INTERPERSONAL
DETAILS
  • Security experience at
    a management level
  • At least 15 years
    experience in the Police and/or Military preferred
  • Proven and developed
    leadership skills and ability to prepare and implement site based
    strategies and tactical plans to manage security risks.
  • Bachelor degree in a
    Security related field is desirable.
  • Ability to influence
    key stakeholders and foster excellent collaborative working relationships
  • Proven administrative
    skills including Word, Excel and Powerpoint
  • Excellent communication
    skills and ability to prepare detailed reports.
  • Ability to formulate,
    introduce and enforce written procedures to maintain company policy
  • Unquestionable
    integrity
  • Culturally aware
  • Understanding of the
    Tanzanian government and legal system
