Position Description:
Introduction
The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) formerly known as the Federation of
Tanganyika Employers (FTE) is the most representative employers’ organization
in Tanzania. It was formed in 1960 to represent few private employers. ATE is
registered and recognized under the Employment and Labour Relations Act (No.6
of 2004) as an Employers Trade Union In Tanzania. It now represents employers
in all sectors of the national economy excluding the civil service. ATE, the
Government and the Trade Unions form the Tripartite Forum which addresses all
industrial relations and labour related issues at sectoral and national levels.
ATE is an active member of national, regional, continental and international
organizations like: Tanzania Private Sector Foundation (TPSF), East African
Business Council (EABC), SADC Employers Group (SEG), Business Africa (BA)
formerly the Pan African Employers’
Confederation (PEC) and International Organization of Employers (IOE). ‘
The Association has more’ than 1,000 members from all sectors of the national
economy, of which 70% are based in Dar es Salaam and the remaining are
scattered in regions of Tanzania Mainland. It has also a Zonal Office in Arusha
at the New Safari Hotel to cater for members in Northern Tanzania.
The Association wants to further strengthen its Secretariat, and now invites
applications from qualified Tanzanian Nationals for the following vacant posts.

Reporting to the Executive Director of the Association, you will manage all
internal and external education efforts for our association and member
employers. We will rely on you to conduct needs analysis, develop curriculums
and training materials, coordinate various seminar training, represent the
Association in various training and forums local and international, supervise
outside training/Vendors, and implement feedback tools
Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Plan, coordinate and conduct general and specialized corporate and public
seminars and training, educational and development programs.
Confer with members and stakeholders to gain knowledge and identify areas or
situations requiring training for members and the public on employment and
related issues
Organize and develop training programs, manuals, reference library, testing and
evaluation procedures, multimedia visual aids and other educational materials.
Ensure that all training administration processes including budgeting and
financial control of training programmes are effectively and efficiently
managed
Test, measure evaluates efforts and effectiveness of training presentations and
programs to ensure ATE achieves value for money.
Develop and presents presentations/programs to various groups.
Develop and ensure that the Association training website is always up to date
and other database systems. Develop and ensure the utilization of modern
technology like e-mail and Internet as training mediums.
Performs a variety of professional and managerial activities in the association
including training market research
Serves on Association’s meetings and committees as required. Performs any other
related duties as assigned by his/her superiors.
Knowledge and Abilities
Knowledge of learning theory and motivation research.
Knowledge of professional training best practices.
Knowledge of basic human resources theory and principles. Knowledge of adult
education theory and practice.
Knowledge of country laws on Labour, employment regulations and HR policies/
Procedures regarding human resource management.
Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to communicate to groups in a
classroom and non-classroom setting. Ability to effectively collect, analyzes,
evaluate and prepare Training statistical data. Ability to plan, organize,
implement and evaluate instruction
Supervision Given and Received
Performs under general supervision of the Executive Director. Determines own
methods of performing assigned duties where definite objectives have been set.
supervises outsourced resource persons. Future supervisor of training officers
as the business grows is anticipated.
Minimum Qualifications, Talent and Skills
The candidate we seek will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, preferably with
a masters degree in Education, Business, or a related field; 5+ years’
experience providing adult education programs in a corporate and public setting;
knowledge of adult education/ training methodology; and skills in project
management. Excellent organizational, communication, and presentation skills
are essential; proficiency in PowerPoint, word processing, spreadsheet and
database applications required; public speaking experience required; strong
written communication skills required; and program management experience are
preferred. You’ll need the ability to work in an open, collaborative setting.
Travelling at short notice is required.
