Payroll Administrator

Position Overview
Reporting to the Human Resources & Payroll Coordinator, this individual will support the Team by processing timely and accurate semi-monthly payroll for Secure’s employees and contractors. This individual will ensure the confidentiality and integrity of information handled throughout the payroll process while providing excellent customer service.
Job Duties/Responsibilities
* The main responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
* Process accurate semi-monthly multi-provincial payroll for hourly, salaried, and contract employees
* Develop, document, and implement efficient payroll processes
* Entry of new hires and employee changes in ADP people@work/pay@work system, ensuring appropriate approvals are in place
* Termination of employees from payroll, processing final payment according to legislative requirements, and communication of terminations to appropriate departments and personnel
* Process IT requests for hires/changes/terminations
* Manage and administer all benefit plans/programs
* Maintenance of payroll garnishments and applicable payments
* Generate reports pre/post payroll processing for Controller review and approval
* Track/report vacation use and entitlements
* Year end payroll reporting, generate accurate T4 documents within required timelines
* Compile reports from payroll system on regular/as needed basis
* Provide HR administrative support
* Assist in maintaining the contents of hire packages and distribution to facilities
* Assist in ensuring employee files are kept up to date
* Effectively handle HR and payroll issues in a confidential and timely manner
Education/Experience
The successful candidate will have:
* Three to five years experience in an intermediate level payroll position
* Certificate or diploma in accounting or business administration
* Certification as PCP or CPM would be considered an asset
* One year experience with ADP pay@work and/or people@work programs would be beneficial
* Industry experience would be considered an asset
Qualifications
This position requires:
* Knowledge of provincial employment standards in Western Canada provinces
* Strong accounting/mathematical ability
* Above average computer skills and understanding of applicable payroll programs
* Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
* Above average attention to detail and the ability to problem solve when errors are present
* Ability to complete work with high level of accuracy
* Ability to maintain confidentiality
* Strong interpersonal skills and desire to provide above average service to Team
* Multitasking, dependability, and flexibility
