Responsibilities
include
include
- Provide overall management,
implementation, and monitoring of the nature-based economic strengthening
and diversification component of the project - Address the tourism value chain
and identify and promote livelihoods that encourage local communities to
protect the environment while aligning household economic incentives with
local resource use practices and long-term conservation objectives - Leverage communities both
inside and out of wildlife management areas to increase economic
opportunity and the area of land under sustainable management
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in natural
resource management, tourism development, environmental science, environmental
or conservation policy, development economics, or related field - Minimum 10 years of experience
in economic development policy - Experience as a manager of
conservation-based enterprise development projects, with experience
addressing tourism value chains and strong ability to collaborate with
private sector, government entities, international donors, and local
communities - Understanding of the linkages
between conservation, tourism, and conservation-based enterprises, an
in-depth understanding of the intricacies of supporting policy development
and implementation - Minimum of five years of
experience working in East Africa required; recent experience working in
Tanzania highly preferred - Demonstrated leadership,
versatility, and integrity
