C-re-aid is looking
for motivated, adventurous architects to complete our team in Tanzania. This
internship for recently graduates is a non-paid position for 6 months up to 1
year. Accommo

dation is provided. After 2 successful years, C-re-aid is ready to
grow and to expand. The team of architects will be working on the three
different branches from the organization: Fighting Poverty; through summer
projects conducted in the villages of Tanzania, we look at the influence of
architecture on the poverty of people. Slum Upgrading; through projects in the
slums/ cities of Tanzania, we look at the possibilities to improve housing
conditions and by thus upgrade these informal settlements or even build new
slums of higher quality. And Affordable housing; through private freelance
projects, the organisation researches a way to achieve affordable housing by
using local materials in a creative way or use specific designs methods to keep
construction at a low cost.

You are responsible
for the preparation, design, study and implementation of construction projects
in Northern Tanzania. In addition you will be assisting the guidance of
students of architecture and volunteers with their construction projects.

Personal
Specification:

•Master in
Architecture.

•Strong interest in
Social Sciences

•Confident/fluency
in spoken and written English.

•Excellent written,
and oral communication skills, and able to communicate to a variety of
audiences.

•Good research
skills via alternate forms.

•Ability to form
partnerships with universities, NGO´s, local and foreign partners.

•Computer literate.

•High motivation,
with the ability to be pro-active.

•Work well with
others and independently.

•Ability to work
under pressure, manage own workload and meet deadlines.

•Willingness to work
with limited resources.

•Excellent
organisational skills.

•Willingness to
learn on the job.

•Flexible.

coordinate the summer projects with students of architecture

•Bring in new ideas
for the organization to grow.

•Assist in start-up
of slum upgrading project

•Represent the
organisation in meetings with goverment and partner NGO´s regarding the
projects

•Assist on every
possible level to make the organization grow.

This is a full-time
position in Tanzania of minimum 6 months. This is a non-paid position, although
your accommodation in Tanzania will be provided.
