Technical Sales Engineer Job Vacancy in Glasgow

Main Functions:
To promote and sell H&V products to Consultants and Contractors
Responsibilities:

Product & Technical Knowledge
1. To acquire and maintain extensive knowledge on products supplied.
2.To use the above knowledge in relation to Customer requirements
3. To acquire and maintain information on competitors’ price in relation to specific projects and general terms offered
4. To acquire and maintain up to date information on any changes in technology within the industry, and in particular, to keep abreast of developments that apply to or affect our product ranges

• Planning, Reporting & Selling
1. To optimise time available by the effective planning of..
a) The coverage of the country on a regular basis.
b) Individual interviews with particular detailed reference to relevant Consultants and Contractors on specific projects.
c) The geographical sequence of calls, balancing interviews with sales visits.
2. To maintain an up to date record and information system, detailing all customers and projects, with the current negotiating situation.
3. Must have the ability to close out sales, using all necessary means including liaising with manufacturers for special prices, or offering alternatives to satisfy specifications.
4. To be aware of the financial position of customer accounts and using personal contacts assist in overdue debt collection, and resolving any queries or misunderstandings
5. To maintain up to date literature and price lists to distribute as necessary.
6. To liaise closely with internal staff to follow up and/or finalise any sales or Customer Service issues.
7. To report details of calls to Sales Director on a weekly basis.
8. To keep the directors up to dated on any relevant project or customer related information including:
a) The image of company as perceived by customers and competitors
b) The acceptance of the products, prices and service offered.
c) The identification of existing product sales opportunities for new customers and new product sales for existing customers.
d) Providing feedback on competitors marketing activity.
