The Insurance
Officer serves under the Director of General Insurance. He is responsible
for underwriting business, renewals, endorsements, processing of claims as well
as routine
correspondence.
Duties and
Responsibilities
(i) Undertakes the underwriting of new policies.
(ii) Apportions risks under various reinsurance treaties and/or facultative
reinsurance.
(iii) Receives facultative reinsurance offers from outside companies, maintains
reinsurance files
and relevant correspondence.
(iv) Advises the Accounts Department on Credit and Debit Notes to be raised In
favour of or
against Insurance Agents. Insurers or Reinsures in respect of premiums, claims
etc.
(v) Prepares relevant data for actuarial valuation.
{vi) Prepares endorsements and renewal documents.
(vii)Checks premium rates applicable to endorsements and renewals and ensures
that they are
correctly applied.
(viii) Drafts all endorsements and renewals as need arises.
(ix) Advises on trends in the various aspects of business operations within his
section and
suggests corrective measures.
(x) Signs documents within approved financial powers delegated to him.
(xi) Deals with all matters connected with advances or commission to agents.
(xiii) Process claims for settlements e.t.c
(xiv) Carry out risks and loss surveys as necessary
Essential
Qualifications
Holder of Associate of Chartered Insurance Institute (ACll) Diploma or
Advanced Diploma in Insurance from a recognized Institution Or
A recognized degree plus recognized professional insurance qualification; and
At least 2 years of experience at managerial level
Computer literacy is an added advantage
REMUNERATION
Remuneration will be according to ZIC salary scale and other terms and
conditions of ZIC.
