Location: Peterborough, Ontario
The Seasoned Spoon Café is a not-for-profit cooperative that serves locally grown, organic food at Trent University.
We are looking for a student cook to work from May 9th, until the end of July. The position is 24-32 hours/week, funding pending at $11.00 /hour.
Eligibility Criteria Applicants must be 15-30, must have been full-time student in the past year and must be returning full time students next year. Must be Canadian Citizens, permanent residents or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred. All applicants must be able to legally work in Canada.

Responsibilities:
1. Responsible for all day to day operations of the café. Including opening and closing procedures, menu planning and food preparation, customer service, and adhering to safe food handling procedures.
2. Arrive on time and prepared (proper footwear/clothing) for shifts
3. Ensure a quality product by following set recipes and/or cooking techniques
4. Provides guidance in the kitchen and acts in a leadership role. Mentors prep cooks to become cooks in subsequent years.
5. Takes initiative and works well with others.
6. Attention to detail and ability to keep the work space clean.
7. Maintains good communication with Spoon co-ordinator, manager and other staff.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Experience working in a fast paced environment.
2. Experience cooking seasonal, vegetarian food.
3. Knowledge of Seasoned Spoon mandate and structure an asset.
4. Interest in food, environment and social justice issues.
5. Food handlers certificate.
6. Punctual, reliable, organized, and possessing strong communication skills.
7. Self-directed.
