Take a front seat role in the family planning and reproductive health revolution in Uganda. Marie Stopes Uganda (MSU) is the largest and fast growing organization of its type in the country, preparing for a period of rapid expansion with support from the UK and US governments. We aim to contribute 15 points to Uganda’s contraceptive prevalence rate by 2015, saving and improving many thousands of Ugandan lives. Job Title: Medical Detailer-1 Post
Reporting to the Sales Manager

The Medical Detailer’s main role is to plan, implement and achieve monthly sales targets by doing the following
• List all doctors, medical service providers, pharmacies in the territory
• Achieve maximum productivity by preparing efficient and effective route plans that cover required number of existing and new customers on daily basis
• Promote company’s entire range of products among the doctors/
• medical practitioners/ pharmacies by highlighting special features/benefits of the products, its proven efficacy, new research and clinical findings through one on one detailing and group meetings
• Ensure visibility of company’s products at the outlets, display of company’s communications materials at the outlets/doctors chambers/clinics/hospitals
• Book orders from doctors/private service providers/pharmacies/ wholesalers/chain stores/hospitals/private clinics/NGOs and ensure adequate availability/visibility at their shelves.
• Liaise and coordinate with distributors and uplift stock and ensure delivery of booked orders to the customers.
• Ensure timely collection and banking of sales proceeds on regular basis
• Reconcile stock and cash on regular basis
• Collect and report information on competitors’ products and activities.
• Prepare and submit daily, weekly and monthly reports as per the specified format
• Attend trainings from time to time and develop competencies required for being a more effective salesperson
• Build and maintain relationship with local influential and opinion leaders on behalf of the company
• Any other duties as may be required from time to time

Qualifications, Skills and Experience Qualifications:
• Either: Science/Pharmacy graduate with a minimum of 3 years experience with robust pharmaceutical sales or degree in Commerce or Business Administration with a specialisation in sales or marketing and a minimum of 4 years experience in health products sales and marketing Experience:
• High level experience in interpersonal communication.
• Experience in conducting community based mobilisation and education activities in SRH programs will be of high advantage.

Skills:
• Highly developed communication skills (including public speaking, PR and one on one) • Ability to work under pressure
• Young, smart, hard working, persuasive, good interpersonal skills, flair for sales
• Ability to work independently in a multi-cultural and lingual setting
• Excellent interpersonal and networking skills

Attitude/Motivation:
• Pro-choice and interested in reproductive health
• Driven to deliver on project goals to achieve MSU’s mission
• Keen interest in people and making a difference in the World
• Willingness to work outside Kampala and travel extensively in rural areas.
