Job Summary: The Progr
amme Manager will be responsible for supporting the
implementation of FFI’s Ugandan Programme in consultation with conservation
partners.

Responsibilities:
- Offer overall technical support to the on-going
projects being implemented in partnership with the Uganda Wildlife
Authority ‘(UWA), the United Organisation of Batwa Development in Uganda
(UOBDU), the Institute of Tropical Forest Conservation (ITFC) and District
Local Authorities of Rakai, Kisoro, Kabale and Kanungu. - Technically support conservation partners in
Uganda in their efforts to improve biodiversity conservation effectiveness
through development of guidelines and policies based on lessons learned
from implementa¬tion of approaches that take into account human needs,
such as the cultural values and conservation approach. - Work in accordance with the Africa Programme
Strategy and FFI’s Business Plan, continue to develop programme areas in
Uganda together with and working through local partners and the private
sector whose programmes impact key biodiversity areas (KBA). - Support conservation partners both governmental
and non-governmental organisations in their efforts to manage wildlife and
conserve biodiversity. - Continue to nurture already developed relations
with conservation partners, local community based organisations, cultural
institutions, donors and Identify more key local partners to work with, in
developing a programme in the identified programme areas. - Working with the Regional Director and other
UK-based technical FFI staff, to ensure preparation of annual budgets,
technical reports and information for auditors and facilitate cash
transfers for specific ongoing projects. - Ensure core services to projects provided through
the Uganda programme office are delivered and budgeted for and manage the
Uganda office budget - Ensure development and implementation of
operational and staffing procedures to ensure effective implementation of
the Uganda programme. - Manage and motivate in-country staff under line
management through objective setting, continuous performance management,
annual appraisal, training provision and personal development planning. - Perform any other administrative functions and
plans as may be discussed and agreed with the Regional Director.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
Skills and Experience:
- The applicant must hold a Masters’ degree from a
recognized and reputable university in the fields of Natural Resources
Management, Business Development, Conservation Biology and Community
development - At least ten years’ experience working with a
conservation organization and community development. - Past experience working with an international NGO
will be an added advantage - A results-oriented leader with self-drive,
committed to conservation who can work with minimum supervision. - Communication skills both oral and written, and
computer literate. - Project management and development skills,
including project cycle monitoring, project inception, development and implementation
and technical and financial reporting to partners and donors - Institutional relationship building skills
- Natural resources management planning and
community development skills - Good fundraising skills.
- Leadership skills – ability to nurture others and
act as a mentor - The applications should be form Ugandans or from
East Africans entitled to work in Uganda (Proof of entitlement to work in
Uganda and Proof of Residency will be required).
