Job Summary:
The Barclays Credit Analyst, Impairment & Models primary involves the
delivery of accurate projections of the Bank’s Retail Impairment provision and
the development of robust econometric/statistical modeling covering scenarios
and stress testing. The position will play a vital role in the forecast
accuracy over both short term and long term aspects and will interact with
multiple business partners and provide insight It will also deal with managing
multiple forecast models and tools and identify any issues escalated when
necessary as well as the ad hoc analysis covering impairment expense or capital
charge. The job role will also include performing data analysis, forecasting
and generating both monthly and ad-hoc management information used by
management to manage the Retail business. The analyst will also be
responsible for scorecard and behavioral models; and any other analytics
specific duties as assigned by the Head of Portfolio Analytics & MI.

- Gather relevant customer data
from bank’s internal MI systems in order to run the impairment &
provisioning models. - Communicate impairment &
analytic results to both technical and non-technical audiences, using
Microsoft Excel worksheets and PowerPoint presentations - Understand business questions
and formulating data analysis and modeling problems. - Prototyping data-driven
predictive models and data analysis models. - Assist the Retail Credit team
by providing relevant and timely analysis for current projects and ad-hoc
queries.
2. Data Analysis, Forecasting
and Modeling of Portfolio Performance Statistics (20%)

- Analyze and interpret both
Performance and Applications data relating to Credit Risk processes - Offer timely analysis to
support with business as usual activities such as Credit Risk strategy
changes - Continuously strive to improve
Barclays’ decision support systems.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The candidate must hold a good
degree in Quantitative or Mathematical Economics, Statistics, Data
Analytics, Analytical Finance, Decision Sciences and /or Computer
Sciences. - Strong IFRS knowledge and
strong experience in econometric modeling or risk forecasting - Energetic and highly motivated
- Keen team player
- Possess the ability to
assimilate new information and quickly adapt to a new environment. - Self-starter who naturally
assumes ownership of initiatives - Passionate about data analysis
and how this contributes to the business - Past exposure and experience in
performing data analysis utilizing a standard statistical package such as
SAS; - Strong knowledge of portfolio
dynamics and Credit Risk and credit portfolio life cycle dynamics. - Good knowledge and
understanding of portfolio and sub-portfolio modelling practices and model
performance measures. - Computer proficiency in
modeling using Microsoft Excel, ideally with experience in manipulating
large data sets. - Possess the ability to work on
own initiative. - Practical experience of using
analytics to solve complex business problems. - Excellent personal
organizational skills - High degree of personal
initiative - Ability to handle multiple
tasks - Attention to detail
- Proven knowledge of analysing
and interpreting data using statistical models and manipulating data using
relevant programmes such as SAS/SQL. - Strong communication skills and
the ability to communicate complex concepts effectively at all levels. - A self-motivating team player
who is able to define structure and prioritize work in order to complete
assigned tasks on schedule in a timely and cost effective manner.
