HURINET:
Human
Rights Network Uganda (HURINET-U) was established in 1993 by a group of eight
human rights organizations and was formally registered as an independent,
non-partisan and not for profit organization in 1994. The identity of HURINET-U
lies with its diverse Membership of 53 NGOs. Membership is drawn from
Organizations that are committed to a wide range of human rights issues which
are complementary in terms of areas of focus including; Civil and Political
Rights, Economic Social and Political Rights, Child Rights, Gender and Women’s
issues, Peace building and Conflict Resolution, prisoners’ rights, refugee
rights and labour rights. Members range from purely Ugandan NGOs to
International Organizations. The vision of HURINET-U is to work towards: ‘A
society free of human rights abuse’. The mission of HURINET-U is: To foster the
promotion, protection and respect of human rights in Uganda through linking and
strengthening the capacity of member organizations.’
Job
Summary:
The
Accountant will provide professional financial support to the Finance
department at HURINET.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate should hold a Bachelor of Business Administration,
    Bachelor of Commerce (Accounts option} or the equivalent accrued working
    experience in a related position.
  • A
    minimum of three or more years’ experience in the related field of Financial
    Management
  • Working
    knowledge in basic accounting packages including Quick books, zero etc
    will be of an advantage.
  • Excellent
    analytical skills and planning abilities.
  • Possess
    the ability to establish and maintain conducive collegial relations and
    perform effectively as a member of a team.
  • Willingness
    to travel and work in hard-to-reach areas, occasionally under strenuous
    conditions.
  • Computer
    literacy and excellent documentation skills are a must.
  • Availability
    and willingness to work extra hours during times of peak responses.
  • Highly
    developed cultural awareness and ability to work well in an International
    environment with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures
  • Highly
    developed interpersonal and communication skills including influencing,
    negotiation and coaching
  • Excellent
    time management and planning capacity.
