Catholic Relief Services ICT Manager Job Vacancy in Lilongwe, Malawi

Catholic
Relief Services (CRS) was founded in 1943 by the United States of America
Catholic Conference of Bishops to assist the poor and disadvantaged. At the
invitation of the Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM), CRS commenced its
operations in Malawi in 1997 and with offices in Lilongwe and a sub office in
Blantyre. Main areas of focus include Food Security, Health and Nutrition,
HIV/AIDS prevention and Justice and Peace Building.
ICT
Department aims to support programs deliver by providing first-class ICT
innovative and services in order to ensure that all projects are efficiently
implemented for achievement of CRS mission.
We
are seeking an ICT Manager for CRS Malawi Country Program Office, who will be
managing all aspects of Information and Communications Technology (ICT),
ensuring that ICT services for CRS Malawi program in Lilongwe and Blantyre are
effectively delivered. The incumbent will also need to support ICT4D
initiatives/projects, manage ICT function/projects/budget in compliance to good
stewardship of agency ICT resources and that integrity of ICT systems in the
CRS/Malawi Country Program is according to generally accepted ICT standards.
We
seek candidate who is motivated, interested in ICT4D, open to innovative ideas
and technology, efficient, eager to learn and a team player. The position will
require working closely with Malawi Country Program team, the partner
organizations, ICT vendors, public ICT regulatory institutions and CRS regional
office in Lusaka, Zambia.
Specific
Job Responsibilities In short, we are looking for candidates who are willing to
take ICT tasks that are required to make our programs successful.
This
will include following specific responsibilities:
  • Research,
    resource management and policy development
  • Network
    administration and management
  • Direct
    engagement in ICT4D and other ICT innovations
  • Systems
    administration and management
  • Implement
    and maintain data security
  • Support
    quality assurance through ICT equipment procurement, maintenance, repairs
    and inventory
  • Planning,
    supervision and report
  • Provide
    general helpdesk
  • Telecommunications
  • Lead
    ICT capacity building and coaching.
Required
Qualifications
  • A
    self-starter with a minimum of five years experience in a position of
    responsibility in a busy ICT environment
  • Thorough
    knowledge of microcomputer hardware and software, LAN Operating Systems,
    LAN based application software, security, communication and diagnostic
    tools
  • Ability
    to install and support Sun Systems accounting software
  • Knowledge
    of communications systems: Radio and Satellite technologies, Internet
    technologies, Firewall systems, Database systems including SQL
  • Working
    knowledge of Wireless Local Area Networks
  • Demonstrated
    experience in managing ICT projects
  • Bachelor
    of Science Degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering. Master’s
    Degree an added advantage
  • Microsoft
    Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) or Microsoft Certified Systems
    Administrator (MCSA)
  • Microsoft
    Certified Desktop Support Technician (MCDST) or MCP Certification, CompTIA
    A+ or CompTIA Network
  • Excellent
    oral and written communication and documentation skills and ability to
    train users
  • Advanced
    Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office
  • Demonstrated
    interpersonal and team skills. Strong organization, planning and
    supervisory skills. Ability to work well with people, good judgment and
    commitment to CRS’ mission
  • Willingness
    to travel and work at odd hours
  • Proven
    record of confidentiality, honesty and integrity
  • Knowledge
    and ability to speak Chichewa
