BiRD National Network Administrator and Trainer Job Vacancy in Blantyre, Malawi

The Bureau for Institutional Reform and Democracy
(BiRD) is looking for an experienced Senior Network Administrator and Trainer
for a short-term mission within the 10th EDF Malawi Democratic Governance
Programme.
Programme: STRENTHENING OF ICT SKILLS IN THE
ELECTIONS MANAGEMENT SYSTEM
Starting period: late February 2013
Project duration: 20 w/d
Location: Malawi, mostly Blantyre Deadline for

Description of the Mission Global objective
The global objective of the mission is to
contribute to result 2 of the Democratic Governance Programme: Enhanced
democratic accountability, human right observance and civil society empowerment
Specific objective(s)
The specific objectives of this mission are: To
design, develop and prepare learning materials as well as present targeted
training modules/seminar covering the fields of network administration,
database administration, web application development and website
development/maintenance with the aim of enhancing knowledge, skills and
attitudes of MEC staff.
National Network Administrator/Trainer: 
Profile
required:
Qualifications and skills:
  University
degree in Computer Science or related field;
  Fluent in
English;
  Strong
analytical skills;
  Active
listening and teaching skills and excellent reporting skills;
  Hands on
experience in their areas of expertise
General professional experience:
  Minimum of
8 years of relevant professional experience;
  Proven
experience in hands on network administration in a sizeable environment.
Specific professional experience:
  Proven
experience in the design and implementation of networks in an environment of
200 � 300 PCs.
  Proven
experience in a complex multi-server and domain environment.
  Microsoft
Certified Professional on Windows Server 2003 and/or Microsoft Certified
Technology Specialist on Windows Server 2008.
  Proven
experience in working with Microsoft Exchange server 2003 & 2007.
  Proven
experience in working with enterprise class backup solutions such as EMC
networker, Symantec Backup Exec.
  CISCO
Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or similar worldwide recognised
certification.
  Knowledge
in Fibre Optic connections.
  System and
Network Security knowledge and experience in setting up and maintaining site to
site VPN and Remote Access VPN
  Experience
Microsoft System Center product suite software such as System Center Operations
Manager and Microsoft System Center Configuration manager.
  Well
conversant with Symantec and Trend Micro Products.
  Experience
in an election environment in a developing country, preferably in Sub Saharan
Africa will have a distinct advantage.
