Volunteer
Opportunity description

Want to build
your international development experience and lend your skills to a worthy
cause? Care about child health and disease prevention and want to do something
amaz

ing that protects lives? Come out to Blantyre, Malawi as an Education
Volunteer with Mission Rabies.

Project
Details:

In May, we need you to work with Malawian and International teachers, and
translators teach children and their communities how to protect themselves from
a terrifying killer – rabies. Rabies causes incredible suffering for both human
and animal victims, and sadly affects communities in low income regions. The
disease has been vaccine preventable for over 100 years but 60,000 -100,000
deaths occur every year. Blantyre in Malawi sadly reports more cases of child
rabies deaths in a single hospital than any other in Africa, but we plan to
change that in our biggest challenge against rabies yet! You will be
contributing to the protection of children through working in local schools to
teach basic first aid, rabies control and animal care in our education
campaign. Working alongside mass vaccination teams in the city you will drive
community involvement that eliminates the threat.
