District Based Technical Officers, Mchinji and Mzimba North,
Reporting to Senior Technical Officer – Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS
Foundation
Will provide in-country technical and program support to the
Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric Aids Foundation and will work closely with the

district health offices and health facilities, to contribute to the improvement
PMTCT, ART, HTC, paediatric HIV care, TB , STI , MNCH services delivery and
health systems

In close collaboration with the district coordinators conduct
mentorship and supportive supervision on ART, PMTCT a n Pediatric HIV care, TB
and STI services, Organise and provide training on PMTCT/ART, EID, STI and TB
to health care workers including health surveillance assistants, Work to
integrate PMTCT and paediatric HIV care and treatment into MCH services, expand
the family model for prevention , care and treatment, Support and closely work
with the district in development and review of DIP (District Implementation Plan),
closely work with the district DHMT and extended DHMT in quality improvement
interventions/activities, Actively participate in the regular DEC (District
Executive Committee) meetings, share progress of the project to the DEC
members, Actively participate in district level HIV and other health related
initiatives and program implementation, support the districts and health
facilities to improve data quality, timely data reporting, data analysis and
data use for decision making, Support the districts in improvement of human
resources for health (HRH), Work closely with the DHOs in developing annual
work plans, compiling quarterly progress reports, in collaboration with the
in-country EGPAF team, DHOs and other partners, assist in documenting ‘best
practices and lessons learnt’ across programme, Serve as member of the district
level partners forum and other relevant groups including working groups or
subcommittees, Serve as the EGPAF focal point for the district, Provide monthly
updates to the Senior Technical Officer on progress and issues that impact
implementation and recommend appropriate action, Perform other duties as
required by the Team Leader and EGPAF Management team
Thorough understanding of the functioning of Malawi health
delivery systems, particularly HIV services, Comfortable working independently
and developing new procedures and systems, Comprehensive knowledge and
experience in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment including PMTCT and
Pediatric HIV care, Proven experience in conducting training and mentorship in
PMTCT, Highly organised , meticulous and reliable, Demonstrated excellent
interpersonal skills, organisational skills and writing and presentation
skills, demonstrated experience working effectively in team environment, Must
be willing to frequently travel to the health facilities in the respective
districts
Must have a Diploma in Clinical Medicine or above, Must have at
least 5 yrs clinical work experience in ART, PMTCT an paediatric HIV care, TB
and STI and maternity in govt sites
