Secretary – Malawi National Council of Sports

Malawi National Council of Sports (Council) is a parastatal agency established
by an act of parliament to manage the development of sports in the
country

The Deputy Executive Secretary is responsible to the Malawi National Council of
Sports Board of Directors for the efficient an defective mana
gement of sports,
He/she will have overall responsibility to deputise the executive Secretary in
managing sports and providing leadership sports and providing leadership,
guidance and advice on policy as well as overall strategic direction of the
Council and general management of the organisation including its
resources

Contributing to the formulation and building the strategic direction of the
Council and supporting the compilation and delivery of integrated plans,
Undertaking assignments relating to specific functional accountabilities and
general management as directed by the Executive Secretary. Providing and being
the key contact point for advice to the board on issues relating to sport
technical matters as they relate to the strategic growth of the Council,
Ensuring the financial probity and compliance of the Council and that sound
finaical practices are observed throughout the Council and its registered
associations, Planning and directing the delivery of a ranage of Council
services impacting on the development of sport and the wellbeing and safety of
athletes and the development of associations as sport business institutions,
Deputising for the Chief Executive as and when required

A minimum of a
Masters degree in any of the following fields: Business Administration, General
administration, General Management, Leadership, and a Sports
administration/Management Certificate from a recognised university, No tless
than 3 yrs experience in a busy public office or commercial enterprise at the
management level, Proven track record and experience in sport activities at
administration level, Knowledge of current leisure and sports development
issues, ability to plan for long term development, Good oral and written
communication skills, Good presentation skills

Successful candidates will be appointed on a 3 yrs contract which may be
renewed depending on performance after which the position will be advertised,
remuneration and benefits will be commensurate with qualification and
experience of the successful candidate
