The Blantyre Malaria
Project (BMP), a research affiliate of the University of Malawi College of
Medicine would like to invite applications from suitably and qualified
candidates to fill the post of a Community Based research Coordinator for a
research project involving malaria control interventions focusing on school
aged children
Community Based Research Coordinator
Bachelors degree e (Community Health, Public Health, Research and or
Management)
At least 1 yr post graduation experience (those with a Masters degree and
research experience will have an added advantage)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English, Able to work with
school children and in community settings, Thorough, paying attention to
detail, experience in managing or supervising staff in a busy workplace, Good
interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team, Ability to consistently
follow procedures and systems put in place, Proactive and able to work under
time constraints
Reporting to Principal investigator/administrator
Establish collaboration with schools and community health workers Supervision
and training of youth groups related to health education, Coordinating meetings
with community advisory groups in areas where studies are taking palace,
supervision and coordination of support services and study materials to field
teams, Ensuring the smooth and efficient day-day-to-day operation of field
research and data collection activities, act as the primary administrative
point of contact for research staff, Supervision of study team members (field
workers, data entry), ensuring that study participants are being managed
according to the study protocol as well as Malawi MoH clinical standards,
Communicating regularly with other investigators and sponsors, Maintain the
regulatory file for the project, keeping updated and accurate calendars of
regulatory deadlines and preparing submissions to IRBs and other regulatory
authorities
