Regional Fundraising Officer

Duration of
contract: one year contract with possible extension

Location:
Malawi

Job purpose:

The Regional
Fundraising Officer is responsible for securing continuous financing from
existing donor networks and to broaden up towards new sources of financing for
Programs within the framework of the ICCO Cooperation Regional Strategic Plan.

Together with the
Country Managers (CMs) and programme staff, the RFO is responsible for ensuring
that ICCO continuously improves donor relations, identifies new funding
opportunities and that these funds are managed in compliance with donor
requirements.

Key responsibilities
include:

1.     
Together
with Country Managers and programme staff, develop and implement a fundraising
strategy to secure financing;
2.     
Identify
and contact prospective leads and advise the Regional Manager and Country
Managers as to which ones to pursue;
3.     
Identify
alternative and innovative fundraising possibilities in the region (businesses,
foundations and private donors);
4.     
Draft
profiles of the generated leads and work with the appropriate colleague for
joint follow up;
5.     
Develop
programming lines / ideas for innovative programmes building on ICCO’s track
record
6.     
Assess
the various programs for their potential for funding by donors and map
opportunities;
7.     
Support
Country Managers and programme staff in developing sound proposals by giving
technical and tactical advice;
8.     
Ensure
quality control of proposals and reports;
9.     
Capacitate
(new) staff through supporting them in their fundraising efforts;
10. Be aware of the latest
developments within the donor community in the region and contribution to their
policy setting;
11. Respond to other strategic
networking tasks on request by management.
12. Support the Country Managers
and Program Officers in the development of new programs that can generate
external funding.

Person

Proven
successful fundraising efforts with institutional donors and foundations and
experience with strategic donor liaison.

Experience
with developing public private partnership programmes.

Excellent
organizational skills with a strong attention to detail.

Ability
to analyze, evaluate, and synthesize information and data

Extensive

written and verbal communication skills in English. Good command of the French
language is an advantage
