The Royal Children’s Hospital is a 250 bed tertiary paediatric hospital situated in the centre of metropolitan Melbourne. It offers a full range of paediatric specialty and subspecialty services and is the paediatric major trauma service for Victoria.
The Emergency Department assesses and treats over 67,000 children a year for a diverse array of urgent medical and surgical conditions. Senior staffing includes emergency physicians, paediatricians, and fellows undergoing specific training in paediatric emergency medicine. Under consultant supervision emergency trainees will gain experience in the resuscitation of ill and injured children and have the opportunity to perform a wide variety of procedures on children. A diverse and active educational program exists which includes an accredited Paediatric Life Support course
