Environmental Awareness Patrols Job Vacancy in Canada

Location: Côte Saint-Luc, Montreal, Quebec
The project involves raising people awareness about various environmental issues. The patrols, associated with the éco-quartiers or local organizations, will consist of full-time CEGEP or University students in the field of environment hired for a period of nine weeks during the summer.

Duration: 9 weeks (June 6 to August 5, 2011)
Salary: $12.50 per hour, for 32 hours a week.

Job description:
Inform the residents about and promote environmental best practices, including waste management (garden waste collection and home composting) and adapting to climate change by way of rainwater recovery and greening initiatives. Work is done through different activities such as foot and bike patrols, information booths, door-to-door visits, day camps, and other events.

Requirements:
• must be between 17 AND 30 YEARS OLD (INCLUSIVE) at the start of employment;
• have been registered as a full-time student in the previous academic year and intend to return to school on a full-time basis in the next academic year;
• be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have official refugee protection status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act;
• be legally entitled to work in Canada according to relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations;
• be enrolled in studies related to the environment (biology, land use, ecology, horticulture, geography…) or any other related field.

Assets:
• Employment experience related to environment, nature, ecology, land use or
horticulture;
• Member of an Aboriginal community or a visible minority, or handicapped
student;
• Teamwork and group animation experience;
• Able to carry on a conversation in French and English;
• Have a bicycle.
