Job Summary
To manage, coordinate and execute engineering maintenance and project
activities in the designated sections to ensure the achievement of set business
objectives.
Requirements
Minimum
Requirements
- Degree
in engineering discipline – Mechanical, Electrical or Control &
Instrumentation - 7 years
post qualification Engineering experience in a heavy engineering
environment - Registration
with BIE

Effectiveness Areas
- Analyses
the sectional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures
sufficient financial resources to meet business needs. - Manages
and controls allocated funds and operates within approved parameters. - Contributes
towards the development of the departmental Asset Management and
Maintenance strategies, standards, systems and practices. - Interprets,
coordinates and optimizes the Asset Management and Maintenance Strategy
execution through the implementation of Asset Management Plan and develops
necessary systems/standards. - Coordinate
the implementation of a short/medium term engineering plan aligned to the
Mine Strategy Plan in conjunction with relevant departments; disseminates
and translates the short/medium term plan into action plans to achieve
targets and goals. - Manages
and controls the engineering function at sectional level in order to meet
set targets taking cognizance of industry best practice. - Ensures
compliance to performance standards, statutory and legal requirements for
equipment, taking cognizance of health, safety, environmental and
technical. - Initiates,
monitors and controls short term minor sectional projects to ensure
attainment of desired results. - Identifi
es and manages the implementation of and adherence to legal and corporate
governance – principles/requirements. - Manages
and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental
programmes in area of responsibility. - Manages
subordinates’ key effectiveness area by setting, monitoring and reviewing
performance and taking remedial action as necessary. - Implements
knowledge management principles through application of tools and
methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance. - Establishes
and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and
partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.
