Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer you will be responsible for the
internal operational activities of the Corporation and maintenance in
accordance with policies, goals, and objectives established by the CEO and the
Board of Directors. As COO you will assist the CEO in leadin
g and directing the
development of the Corporation’s policies and goals that cover operations,
human resources, financial performance and growth of the functions and/or the
Corporation’s Management Centres.

Description

Your responsibility will be to ensure performance in the areas of:
operations and maintenance, customer service and quality, operational
optimisation asset management and risk management, customer billing and
commercial services, strategic partnership and stakeholder management, water
loss reduction, business growth, budgets and costs management and infrastructure
investment programme.

Qualifications
and Experience

The breadth of scope for the position requires you to be a good
all-rounder and decisive leader with a proven track record in senior management
and operations. Strong organisational skills, financial acumen, people
management and strategic capability are skills and attributes which are
essential for effective performance in the role. A
mechanical/electrical/electronic/civil or equivalent degree coupled with 15
years’ experience is required.

Water Utilities Corporation is a parastatal organisation which was
established in 1970 with a mandate to manage a single project for the supply
and distribution of water. Its remit has expanded in the last few years to
supplying potable water to all the urban centres and villages in the country,
as well as managing wastewater under the Water Sector Reforms Programme. The
corporation plays a critical role in the future development of the country and
this role has a direct impact on this.
