Family Welfare Association (BOFWA) is looking to fill the following position:
Programme Manager (1 based in Gaborone)
Main
Purpose

In line with the strategy, plan and manage the BOFWA program/projects
implementation; align systems and people, managing the programmatic/ projects
agreements and donor relations. Manage program

/projects performance and oversee
staff performance. Review and compile quarterly and annual reports

Duties/
responsibilities:
  • Facilitate
    implementation of program in 7 districts and ensure on-going program
    management, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Coordinate
    with Program and technical teams to ensure smooth implementation and
    alignment of program activities in collaboration with the IPs.
  • Provide
    technical support in the development and dissemination of tools,
    materials, reports, papers, and intervention for research projects as
    appropriate.
  • Work
    closely with assigned team to ensure activities are implemented according
    to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Monitor
    progress against program deliverables, goals and objectives.
  • Write
    and edit technical reports and documents. Assist with publications, web
    pages, and presentations and conduct searches of published literature in
    assigned technical area.
  • Monitor
    and maintain protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, training
    materials and reports.
  • Coordinate
    and track the technical assistance strategy across the program results
    areas.
  • Develop,
    implement and/or coordinate capacity strengthening initiatives for program
    implementers and partners across the program results areas.
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Masters
    Degree or equivalent in strategy management, Social Sciences,
    International Development or related field or equivalent.
  • At
    least 5- 8 years of demonstrated excellence in a program officer position
    with at least 3 years in a senior and leadership position, preferably in
    an international development context and working with youth and
    underserved communities
  • Experience
    with managing multiple funding and international donor rules and
    regulations and experience working in an international Non- Governmental
    Organization or Civil Society Organization environment is desirable.
  • Knowledge
    of processes for developing and implementing SRHR programs
  • Understands
    the HIV-related needs of key population groups in Botswana, and
    implementing activities to reduce stigma and discrimination.
  • Proven
    skills in mentoring, leadership and networking.
  • Sensitivity
    to cultural differences and understanding of the political and ethical
    issues surrounding public health issues among the underserved and youth
    populations in Botswana
  • Ability
    to manage and complete numerous tasks with a high degree of organization
    and limited resources.
  • Experience
    of proactively identifying risk, addressing issues and appropriately
    communicating these to the project staff and partners
  • Ability
    to meet deadlines with strong attention to consistency, detail, and
    quality.
  • Excellent
    written and verbal communication skills and editing skills Resourceful
    through technology, research skills, and relationship building among
    several organization teams and professional organizations to resolve
    problems and initiate

(NGO) and member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF)
BOFWA working to provide comprehensive sexual and reproductive health
information, services and advocate for the rights of adolescents/youth,
orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC) and Key Populations.
Overall
Project mission

In 2016 BOFWA entered into an agreement with PCI International, to implement a
PEPFAR funded OVC Project PCI led partnership in two of the seven PEPFAR high
priority scale-up districts – greater Gaborone and Southern (entailing
Gaborone, Moshupa, Kanye, Lerolwana, Selokolla, Gasita ). The overall mission
of the project is to improve the health and social status for vulnerable
adolescent girls and young women (AGYW), children and adolescents living with
HIV, and HIV-exposed infants, especially infants of young mothers, contributing
to the UNAIDS 90-90-90 goals for Botswana. The OVC Project seeks to provide
targeted, evidence-based and comprehensive OVC care and service interventions
that empower families, strengthen community support structures to identify and
protect OVC.
