Senior Network Administrator

General Objectives:
* Provides senior level network design, architecting, management and daily administration of CBN’s Networking infrastructure, telecommunications, border security and all network infrastructure related systems and services.
* This position focuses on and is responsible for the stability, availability, performance and security of all CBN networking infrastructure components.
* As part of the systems management team, this position also carries general system administration responsibilities for systems not necessarily related to the network infrastructure.
* Provides mentorship and next level support to the Service Desk and Technical Support teams and projects leads technology/business projects as assigned.
Roles and Responsibilities:
* Provide senior level network architecture & design, management, daily administration and ownership of a large complex networking infrastructure.
* Design, manage and administer Firewalls, BGP routing, IDS/IDP appliances, network switches, DNS, DHCP, IP Address Management, SSL and PKI Certificates, VPN, IPSec Tunnels, Wiring closets, VOIP and VLANs.
* Troubleshoot and resolve network related security, stability or performance issues.
* Implement and/or evolve the networking infrastructure, performance/monitoring tools and standard operating procedures used to manage the CBN network infrastructure.
* Monitor, analyze and optimize network design and configuration to drive increased performance, availability and security.
* Develop and maintain up-to-date system and network documentation Manage ISP communication services, vendors and service contracts
* Manage various corporate and manufacturing systems in accordance with dept system management practices
* Plan, evaluate, install, configure, upgrade and perform maintenance procedures on assigned servers and systems
* Perform hardware installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair as necessary
* Perform software installations, upgrades and patches.
* Provide 7×24 on-call support
* Monitor and act upon security advisories.
* Develop, review and recommend Network Security and Management Policies and SOPs
* Conduct regular log monitoring, vulnerability scans, penetration testing and system health checking.
* Adhere to, implement, evolve and enforce structured system management disciplines and security policies
* Act as a project lead or advisor to Product/Project managers in the evolution of Business Systems and Technology.
* Provide 3rd level technical support and mentoring to Service Desk and Technical Support teams.
* Review and Approve any and all changes planned to your respective systems.
* Become fully knowledgeable on the complete range of CBN Corporate and Manufacturing systems, products and services.
* Keep abreast of new developments and technology and understand how this applies to our existing customers.
* Ensure service level compliance.
* Provide both informal/formal training to end-users and/or dept technical staff.
Qualifications:
* University Degree (minimum 3 year) in Computer Systems, Engineering or an equivalent combination of Education and relevant Experience.
* Minimum 8 years of related industry experience
* Must have expert level knowledge and experience with Linux (SLES)
* Extensive experience with design, installation and management of: Firewalls, DNS, VPN, DHCP, Wireless, VOIP, ISDN, Mitel Phone Switch, IDS/IDP, Proxy Servers.
* Experienced in implementing and managing redundant networking and failover routing
* Strong knowledge and experience with writing and troubleshooting PERL and Shell scripts
* Possesses strong networking management knowledge and experience including: managed switches, wireless, data/voice networking protocols, data/voice network routing, security certificates, vlans, firewall management.
* Can demonstrate through past experience a strong ability to troubleshoot network performance issues
* Understands the importance and proven track record of operating within problem, change, capacity management and disaster recovery IT disciplines.
* Understands importance of solid system documentation.
* Proven track record of demonstrating initiative, reliability, productivity and multitasking
* Must possess excellent communication skills
* Must possess a valid Canadian security clearance (secret)
* Industry certifications an asset, especially CISSP, SANS, CISCO, ITIL
