Introduction
The Ontario Sustainable Energy Association (OSEA) inspires and enables the people of Ontario to improve the environment, the economy and their health by producing clean, sustainable energy in their homes, businesses and communities. OSEA members are engaged in or support Community Power projects and renewable energy. OSEA works to initiate, facilitate and support the work of local sustainable energy organizations through membership services, province-wide capacity building and non-partisan policy work. OSEA also hosts an annual Community Power Conference that brings together community power experts, enablers, proponents and supporters from across Ontario and around the world.
Job Description
The IT and Social Media Intern’s responsibilities would include online promotion and updates surrounding the 3rd annual Community Power Conference. They will work in co-operation with the Events and Outreach Manager and the Web Co-ordinator. Some of their duties will include, but are not limited to:
• Ensuring a strong online presence by regularly updating the Ontario Sustainable Energy Association’s Twitter and Facebook accounts with postings related to the conference;
• Facilitating online discussions on relevant forums and posting articles relating to the conference on OSEA’s website;
• Developing a further online network by connecting with affiliates through distributing regular e-blasts and newsletters;
• Providing support to the Web Co-ordinator by posting articles, images and updates on the conference website.
Eligibility and Qualifications
• Must be between 15 and 30 years of age
• Must be registered as a full-time student during the academic year with the intention of returning to school in September (either secondary or post-secondary)
• Is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, and is legally entitled to work according to provincial legislation and regulations
• Must have a strong knowledge of HTML, CSS and content management systems
• Experience image editing for web using Adobe Photoshop or Fireworks; knowledge of Flash or other CS Suite applications an asset
• Familiarity with CRM systems such as Salesforce would also be an asset
• Previous experience in a non-profit setting is beneficial, but not necessary
