Duty Manager
Part-Time, Temporary Position Poster #2011-33
REPORTS TO: Manager, Airline Operations and Terminal Services
BAND: 7A, Step 1 (Included in the General Bargaining Unit)
SALARY: $37.84 per hour (37.5 hours per week)
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Manager, Airline Operations and Terminal Services, the successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the management of all day to day activities affecting safety and security and that impact airport operations. This position is also responsible for the implementation of the Airport Emergency Procedures for all emergencies. Other responsibilities include apron management in coordination with the Team Leader, Airline Operations & Terminal Services. As a Duty Manager, you will also ensure the effectiveness of public service initiatives including the availability of all airport facilities and services. You will use your communication skills to maintain relationships with airport tenants, other departments, media, R.C.M.P. and other outside parties. The successful candidate is required to successfully complete the Duty Manager training as provided by Edmonton Airports. Shift work is required. Part-time hours will be assigned based upon operational requirements. Other duties as required. This position will terminate February 29, 2012.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
• A certificate, diploma or degree in Transportation or Management is desirable however, a combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
• Experience in airport, airline, and/or aviation environment would be considered highly desirable.
• Previous experience with duty manager duties would be considered a strong asset.
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to identify and manage changing priorities.
• Proven understanding of, and demonstrated commitment to, providing exceptional customer service.
• Effective communication skills, both oral and written.
• Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills in dealing with airport tenants, other departments and the general public.
• Proven ability to work effectively as a member of a fast-paced team.
• Familiarity using computers and software applications (Microsoft Office 2007).
• Demonstrated problem solving and decision making skills.
• Successful candidate must acquire and maintain an Airside Vehicle Operator’s Permit.
• Successful candidate will be required to complete a pre-employment medical.
• Ability to obtain and maintain Airport Security Clearance required by the position.
