The Position:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Fund Development and Marketing Lead will be responsible to plan, manage and guide resource development for Green Calgary, as well as lead marketing and communication at Green Calgary. The position requires an individual who shares our passion and commitment to the goals and values of Green Calgary. The role will work closely with both the staff and Board of Green Calgary to plan and implement the strategies required to achieve our goals.

You will focus on finding new and creative sources of funding, promoting and expanding the reach and impact of Green Calgary through the development of relationships with key audiences and the development of a compelling and consistent Green Calgary brand and marketing materials. You will also play a key role in the planning and execution of charitable functions and events.

Key Responsibilities:

Fund Development:
• Develop a philanthropic/fund development strategy for Green Calgary
• Cultivate and manage relationships with existing or potential granting bodies, donors, sponsors, partners and supporters
• Research potential donors and grant opportunities
• Write grant applications
• Communicate with current and potential donors as needed and ensure timely recognition and thanking of donors
• Develop and manage funding database
• Working with Office Manager, ensure that all funds received are appropriately recorded and deposited
• Evaluate success of fund development activities
• Lead planned fundraising activities
• Provide support and direction to staff, Executive Director and Board of Directors to do their own fund development and solicitation

Marketing & Communications:
• Develop, implement, and manage marketing and communication activities and materials in support of the fund development strategy
• Development of tools and materials that will effectively communicate Green Calgary’s mandate, activities, and impacts to our members, the public, potential partners and financial supporters, through the use of multiple media platforms
• Manage the development, distribution, and maintenance of all print and electronic collateral including, but not limited to promotional materials, templates, media releases, newsletters, brochures, email marketing, website, etc.
• Ensure brand consistency across all platforms
• Manage and work within the marketing budget
• Develop and manage Green Calgary’s website and social media plan and activities
• Lead the preparation and production of Annual Report
• Cultivate and maintain a media contact network
• Build capacity among other staff and Board members to communicate consistently and effectively with the public, media, partners, sponsors, donors, etc
• Some program specific marketing may be required

Event Planning:
• Participate in the planning, organization, promotion, and execution of charitable functions and events

Other:
• Prepare marketing reports for Board of Directors
• Recruit and manage fund development and marketing volunteers as required
• As we are a small non-profit, employees are often asked to help out in other tasks as needed.

Qualifications:
• Commitment to Green Calgary’s mission and values
• Commitment to work collaboratively with all constituent groups including staff, Board, volunteers, donors, program participants and other supporter
• Post secondary education in fund development, marketing, communications, public relations or related program
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a related field; preferably in the non-profit or social enterprise sector
• CFRE designation or equivalent a definite asset
• Knowledge of fundraising principles, theories and resources
• Knowledge of privacy legislation and the ability to conduct business in accordance to CFRE/AFP/CAGP code of ethics
• Willingness to develop understanding of “social enterprise” as a business model
• Knowledge of marketing and communication plans
• Experience in project management
• Knowledge of environmental issues, previous experience with writing grant proposals and existing relationships with local media and potential donors would all be beneficial

• Strong planning and project management skills and the ability to manage and prioritize a variety of initiatives concurrently
• Ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
• Strong research skills
• Openness to new ideas
• Strong team leadership skills, with the ability to teach, mentor and coach

Compensation:
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Please state salary expectations in your response. Green Calgary Association is open to flexible work options given the right candidate.
