TELECONTROL/AUTOMATION TECHNOLOGIST
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of specialized electrical/electronic equipment such as supervisory systems (SCADA), plant automation, protection and voice/data networks in various facilities throughout the NWT. You will be responsible for safe work practices, timely analysis and troubleshooting of critical services and devices related to the efficient operation of Hydro and Diesel Generation. You will participate in the capital planning process, managing projects in conjunction with the primary focus to provide direct O&M support of identified systems. Travel to remote communities is required.
Qualifications: Related technical diploma or related engineering degree (electronic, telecommunication or electrical) and several years related experience supporting SCADA, Plant Automation, Radio and Voice/Data Communications in a Power Utility Environment. Knowledge and experience in implementing projects and operations support of Programmable Logic Controllers, Remote Terminal Units, Power Line Carrier, Mobile Radio & Digital Microwave, Security/Video and Phone systems. Ability to read technical electrical drawings, design build and implement projects within budgets. A Class 5 Driver’s license is required.
Salary Range: $41.04 to $49.88 per hour. We offer an Accommodation Allowance of $4,200 and Location Allowance of $4,392 per annum.
