This is a temporary full-time position (maternity leave replacement) from December 2011 to January 2013. Salary range is between $55,000 – $70,000 based on experience.
You report to the Executive Director and will be responsible for:
• Managing LEED(r) and other green building rating and certification systems documentation projects (budget and schedule).
• Coaching builders and consultants on the implementation of green building strategies.
• Working with consultants, builders and developers to carefully track timely and complete technical submittals required for LEED(r) documentation.
• Providing green building solutions through research and technical analysis of policies, technologies, products, strategies and solutions.
• Managing one or more of Light House’s Green Building Project Co-ordinators.
• Developing and delivering green building education and training programs for businesses, designers, builders, developers and municipal officials with support from other Light House staff members.
• Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities.
• Preparing professional proposals.
We are looking for someone who is a flexible, team-oriented multi-tasker with an appetite for a fast-paced, project-oriented environment. You are familiar with green building rating systems such as LEED, BOMA BESt, etc. You will have strong technical skills, an aptitude for quantitative analysis and enthusiasm for project development, client services, education and professional mentoring. Working for the Light House Sustainable Building Centre requires that you share our passion for green building and sustainable living.
Qualifications
Education
• A bachelor degree or technical diploma in building design, construction, engineering, or building science, architecture, engineering. We are looking for the right person and are open to energy, design and general green building professionals.
• LEED(r) AP required
Experience
• A minimum of five years practical work experience
• A minimum of two years in a project management role – budget control, staff utilization, scheduling, scope control, client management
• Familiarity with green building design, structures and construction with ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
• Practical experience working with LEED(r) e.g., completion of a project
• Experience with life cycle analysis, energy modeling, integrated design processes, and/or facilities management will be considered an asset
Skills
• Extremely organized
• Excellent verbal communications (including telephone), presentation and interpersonal skills
• An open communication style
• Knowledge of the technical aspects of building design, construction and operation is essential.
• Good written communication skills
• Proficient in spoken and written English
• Extremely proficient in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; knowledge of Open Project or MS Project an asset
• Professional demeanour, with an ability to be calm and persistent with team members and colleagues
