Legal Counsel – Real Estate
SALARY: $96,452.91 – $117,625.50 per annum
DIVISION: Legal Services
LOCATION: 931 Yonge Street

The successful candidate reports to the General Counsel and is responsible for the delivery of high quality, proactive legal advice and representation to Toronto Community Housing staff and the Board of Directors in support of Toronto Community Housing’s business goals and objectives. You will play an integral role as the primary internal real estate lawyer on the Revitalization of our housing portfolio including Regent Park, a multi-phase redevelopment that includes tenant rental buildings, market condominiums and commercial spaces. The role will include a wide assortment of general real estate matters including commercial leasing, purchase and sale, construction and license agreements

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree of Law, as well as membership in the Law Society of Upper Canada
Minimum of five (5) years knowledge and experience in: development, municipal and environmental law, real estate joint ventures/partnerships, real estate financings, construction contracts, commercial leasing and general real estate matters.
 Ability to provide advice on a wide variety of real estate related legal issues including tenders and procurement
Proficiency with computerized business applications including word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and database software applications
Proven ability to negotiate and draft legal contracts and agreements
Proven ability to interact effectively with and engage a variety of stakeholders including: staff, tenants, business partners, and community groups
Excellent conflict resolution and organizational skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills and presentation skills
Working knowledge of Toronto Community Housing’s operations, policies and procedures and relevant legislation that is applicable to Toronto Community Housing
