Salary/Benefits: Effective April 1, 2010 $14.74 – $16.07 per hour
Responsibilities/Duties:
The Laundry worker, under supervision is responsible for unloading washers, loading/unloading dryers, folding laundry, ironing and ensuring an adequate supply of clean laundry and linens are available in each department. Assist with ensuring the equipment and department are kept clean. This position will comply with Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S) and Workplace Hazardous Material Information System (WHMIS) and other safety and infection control regulations, policies, and procedures. This position will promote Health and Safety Awareness by using safe work procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment when required. Performs other related duties as required.

Education:
# Minimum Grade 10 required
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
# Basic understanding of laundry operations in a healthcare setting
# Ability to understand and demonstrate oral and written instructions and procedures as required
# Excellent hygiene techniques
# Understanding of Body Substance Isolation (Universal Precautions) preferred
Physical Effort/Strength Required:
# Frequent physical demands include ability to stand for long periods, walking, bending, and be capable of lifting 25-50 pounds on a regular basis.
