Job Description — PART TIME SALES POSITION
Start Date: December 7th to May 31st 2012 with possibilities of extension
Job Description: Working on a part time contractual basis with potential to lead to full time, the sales associate position is responsible for selling advertising in Momentum Magazine’s print edition, digital edition, social media and on momentumplanet.com.
Responsibilities:
• Always represent Momentum Magazine in a positive manner
• Must be available during job hours as described below
• Must be available during peak production periods (2 weeks before booking deadline and until all artwork is collected, usually 4 weeks total) — flexible time off to fall in non-peak production hours
• Sell Momentum products — print advertising, web advertising, digital advertising & social media campaigns
• Maintain/ take over relationships with existing clients passed over by Ad Director
• Meet modest sales targets set by Publisher
• Collect signed contracts from all advertising sales over $500 and give to Office Manager for filing
• Book advertising sales using file maker & Google docs
• Maintain and add to Momentum’s potential sales client database (File maker + Mail Chimp), providing comp copies for potential clients
• Keep Momentum’s contact database confidential
• Provide weekly reports on sales progress (calls made, sales tentatively booked, sales booked) to Advertising Director, and maintain sales database
• Collect press-ready artwork files, and submit to Ad Director before deadline
• Attend annual industry trade shows — Interbike and Expocycle + any other pertinent trade shows
• Provide 2 weeks’ notice for termination of contract (applies to both contractor and to Momentum Magazine)
Qualifications:
• Sales experience is an asset.
• Advertising sales experience is an asset.
• Knowledge of print, online and social media is an asset.
• An interest in/ practice of transportation cycling is an asset.
• A university degree/ college diploma is an asset.
Hours: 20 hours/ week
Monday: 9:30 — 1pm or 12:30 — 4pm PST
Tuesday/ Wednesday/ Thursday: 9am — 2:30pm or 9:30am — 3pm PST (must always be available to answer phone calls and text messages during these peak times)
Work location: Vancouver, BC. Working remotely is ideal scenario, with weekly meeting at Momentum Office.
Reports to: Publishers
Works with: Publishers (Ad Director) + Office Manager
Compensation: $1250/ month + 15% commission on all new sales
Anticipated Minimum Sales Target = $26,000/ issue after 2 issues (5 issues/ year)
$50/ monthly cell phone expense.
Billing cycle: Monthly contractor invoices are to be submitted by the end of each month. Base salary rate paid monthly, commission paid after magazine billing cycle in monthly installments. Advance available for first 2 months against future commissions up to $400/ month.
