Hearts Content Organic Farm Organic Farm Intern Job Vacancy in Brantford, Ontario (near Cambridge, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton)

Our 57-acre organic farm is in a beautiful setting, right on the rail trail running from Brantford to Hamilton. We are seeking an intern who is eager to learn about market gardening, livestock care, haying, business management, weed management, food preservation, permaculture and tree and grounds care. We expect
interns to contribute to every aspect of the farm including cooking, cleaning, tidying the property, caring for animals as well as garden duties.

We are 5 diverse folks who have previously farmed together. We farm with Bud and Dano, our two Belgian work horses as much as possible to reduce pollution and our dependency on oil. Our other livestock include hens, sheep, and donkeys. We are currently building a second home off-grid with the intention of being an eco-health centre.

We make decisions based on consensus, and are in the process of becoming a co-operative farm. Our agricultural practices are sustainable and aid in maintaining the integrity of our surrounding environment.

Our market garden is about 3 acres and we will be selling at three markets, and running a CSA. Housing and vegetarian meals are provided, and we provide field trips to nearby organic farms. We pay a stipend of $400 per month.
